About me

I grew up in the South of England, mainly Sussex. Although I was actually born in Scotland, I lost my Scottish accent when I was little. Now I live in New Zealand with my partner Dom, daughter Jordan and our two cats, Meg and Mog.

Writing

I didn't always want to be a writer, I do remember wanting to be a shoe designer or a hairdresser. At one point I wanted to be an Olympic ice skater, at another I wanted to be a world class dancer, but I would have settled for being a superhero or maybe just magic! Being a writer I can be all of those things, so it's definitely right for me.

Hobbies

I love travelling and I'm always excited when I'm going somewhere new, whether near or far. The smells, the sights, the sounds, there's so much to take in that I'm usually buzzing with chatter.
I also enjoy walking in the woods. No matter what season it is I love to get out there among the trees and enjoy that woodland scent. Sometimes, I'll find a nice tree stump to perch on, get out my notebook and write until my bottom goes numb!

Quiz Time...

What was your childhood like?

I had a fun childhood, playing imaginary games with my three sisters. I used to tell stories in a slightly different way back then. I would dress up my sisters and our dog in silly clothes and we would all perform our tales to the rest of the family.

What was your best subject at school?

My favourite subjects at school were English and Art, although I also enjoyed dance, drama and ice skating outside of school time.

Did you have any pets as a child?

I had lots of pets when I was little, hamsters, fish, dogs, cats, gerbils even a rescued bird at one point, but I always wanted a dragon!
